Parcel Management System: Why Europe–Morocco Transport Agencies Need to Evolve
For years, agencies transporting parcels between Europe and Morocco have relied on simple methods: paper, Excel spreadsheets, phone calls and, at best, WhatsApp.
These methods have allowed the sector to operate and grow for many years.
But today, the delivery business has changed.
1. A sector that is becoming increasingly demanding
Parcel delivery has become a much more structured and digital activity.
Customers are now used to services such as DHL, Chronopost and other major transport companies. They can track their parcels, receive notifications and easily access information about their deliveries.
When a Moroccan living in Europe sends a parcel to Morocco through a traditional transport agency, they naturally compare the two experiences.
They do not necessarily expect the same level of technology as a multinational company.
But at the very least, they want to know:
- Where is my parcel?
- Has it left?
- Has it arrived in Morocco?
- When can I collect it?
2. The problem is not the agencies’ know-how
Traditional transport agencies have a real advantage. They know their market, their customers, the routes between Europe and Morocco and the realities on the ground.
They have also built strong relationships of trust with their customers over many years.
The problem is therefore not their ability to transport parcels.
The problem mainly comes from the tools used to manage that activity.
3. Paper, Excel and WhatsApp quickly reach their limits
When an agency handles only a few parcels, an Excel spreadsheet or a notebook may be enough.
But as the business grows, things become much more complicated.
Information can end up scattered across several Excel files, paper documents, WhatsApp conversations, phone calls and different members of the team.
When a customer calls to ask where their parcel is, employees may have to search for the information, contact a driver or call another agency.
This wastes the team’s time and makes the business harder to organize.
The more parcels an agency handles, the harder these methods become to maintain.
4. The market needs to become more structured in order to keep growing
We believe parcel transport between Europe and Morocco still has significant growth potential.
But for the sector to continue evolving, it also needs to become progressively more structured.
That does not mean replacing the traditional way transport agencies operate.
Quite the opposite.
The goal is to preserve what makes these agencies strong: proximity to customers, flexibility, knowledge of the market and the human relationships they have built over the years.
But those strengths now need to be supported by better tools.
Transport agencies need a real parcel management system that helps them organize their operations more efficiently and meet the changing expectations of their customers.
Digitalization should not be reserved only for large companies such as DHL or Chronopost.
It should also be accessible to independent transport agencies moving thousands of parcels between Europe and Morocco every week.
5. This is the vision behind DabaColis
This is exactly the challenge that led us to start building DabaColis.
Our goal is simple: to contribute to the modernization and structuring of the parcel transport sector between Europe and Morocco with a solution designed around the real needs of transport agencies.
But more importantly, we do not want to build this solution alone.
We want to build it together with professionals working in the sector, based on their needs, their daily challenges and their feedback.
In our next article, we will explain more concretely what DabaColis is, how the solution works and how it can help transport agencies move toward a more modern way of managing parcels.
